How to get glowing skin
When it comes to beauty, it’s true ‘you are what you eat’. So if you’re lusting after healthy skin and shiny hair, there are some foods that can help you get your glow on. So, exactly what is glow food?
Try these beauties.
Fatty fish is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. These fats can’t be made by the body and have to be sourced from our diet in foods like salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines and tuna as well as plant sources such as flaxseeds, chia and sunflower seeds. These fats help hold water in our cells which may prevent thinning of the skin and dryness of the skin and hair.
You might’ve noticed that vitamin A is found in many skin creams and serums, but it’s essential in our diet too for healthy skin and hair. It increases the rate of skin turnover which helps improve the tone and texture of the skin and slows the signs of ageing. The best sources are orange fruit and vegetables like carrots and sweet potato, green leafy vegetables like spinach, and also eggs.
A recent study in California found that having a serve of almonds each day reduced the appearance of wrinkles in women. This is because they are a rich source of antioxidant vitamin E, essential fatty acids and polyphenols. Other nuts such as brazil nuts are an excellent source of antioxidant selenium.
Berries are a rich source of vitamin C, which is responsible for collagen formation, skin regeneration and skin elasticity. Other fruit and vegetables are sources of vitamin C too, such as citrus fruit, kiwi fruit, tomato, capsicum and broccoli.

BEAUTY BLISS BALLS
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 3 medjool dates, seeds removed
- Process the almonds in a food processor until fine (almost like a powder).
- Add the almond butter, half of the coconut, raspberries and dates. Process again until well combined, you may need to stop and scrape down the sides.
- Roll the mixture into balls (using damp hands can make it easier), then roll balls in the remaining coconut to coat.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour to set, then glow and enjoy!
